Mormon Theology

A conversation today about Mormon Theology (stovepipe hats with golden tablets and magic stones inside), led me to look over the wiki page about mormonism. Several surfs later, I'd discovered some fascinating things, including that the mormon stance on Adam (the progenitor of the human race) is that he was the physical incarnation of the Archangel Michael, who was also one of three beings involved in the creation of the world (Yahweh, Elohim, and Michael). Additionally, Noah (of ark fame) was actually the physical incarnation of the angel Gabriel. Fascinating stuff.

It sounds pathetic, but the internet (and specifically, Wikipedia) has just made my life immeasurably better. I'd never have come up with this info before the internet. But now I know... and knowing is half the battle! (Thanks, Joe!)

No mention of the "Holy Underware"? You are too kind sir.

yeah... the underwear. I've started hearing mentions of that periodically over the past few weeks, but never quite bothered to look into it. Well, I've finally looked it up. It's basically old fashioned looking linen underwear with symbols sewn into it. Is there more to it than that?

From FoxNews:

Q: Is there such a thing as Mormon "underwear"? if so, are all Mormons required to wear it? What does it symbolize?

A: Like members of many religious faiths, Latter-day Saints wear religious clothing. But members of other faiths — typically those involved in permanent pastoral ministries or religious services — usually wear religious garments as outer ceremonial vestments or symbols of recognition. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, garments are worn beneath street clothing as a personal and private reminder of commitments to God.

OMG I just had a silly picture in my mind of someone peeking inside their pants while out in public to remind them of their commitment to God. Made me laugh which is no easy feat after completing my x-mas shopping from start to finish today.
