Miss Pronouncer

Don't know about Oconomowoc? Can't figure out which way to say Objibwe? Curious how the locals pronounce Milwaukee? Well, here's a useful site for all of you FIBs and others who have never lived in God's Country. It's called Miss Pronouncer. It's loaded with sound clips showing the proper way to pronounce Wisconsin place names, tribes and lawmakers. It's also got little bits of Wisconsin trivia scattered throughout. For instance, di'ja know that Otis Redding dies in Wisconsin? Or that the MIR core module resides in Wisconsin Dells? Or that Bloomer is the jump rope capital of the world? If you're heading to an unfamiliar part of the state, make sure you visit this site before you go.

And the best indicator that she knows what she's talking about? This quote from the top of her page:
(And by the way, please slap anyone who says WESconsin!)

Amen, sister. Amen.

Was this brought on by ze frank's horrendenous pronunication of 'Waukesha' (at least that's what I ASSUMED he was trying to say)? Even *I* cringed, and I'm not even a cheesehead!
