Just saw this strange little red-breasted bird sitting on the swingset out back, chirping a little song. Before I could get a picture to help me ID it, the bird flew off, revealing that it's back was entirely blue. That simplifies the ID. It was an eastern bluebird. Cool! Add that to the triple sighting of Scarlet Tanager, and several herons I see flying around virtually every weekday on the way to work, and I've got a decent list for someone who knows virtually nothing about birds!
