Christmas Eve!

Had a lovely Christmas Eve with the family. We slept in (as much as we ever do), and relaxed in the morning. Then, we headed up to Conejitos in Milwaukee for some of the tastiest and least expensive Mexican food around. It's become a sort of Christmas Eve tradition. Mmmm... tostadas with salsa and margaritas on the rocks. Then, we headed over to Red Arrow park for some skating on their little rink. Free admission, skate rentals are $4, and there's a Starbucks on-site.

It took a few laps, but it all started to come back. TK was even developing a nice glide by the end, as long as I held her hand. There was a tumble or two, but nothing that a cup of hot chocolate couldn't fix. Exhausted from skating (man are we bad), we headed up to see Chronicles of Narnia. The effects were mostly OK (with the exception of a couple of blue screen shots that had lazily incongruous lighting), but the story seemed choppy to me. "We need to voyage to that mountain" they'd say. Scene cut, and they're at the mountain. I guess I was mentally comparing it to LOTR, and it suffered by comparison. What wouldn't? Still, TK and TW like it, and I didn't hate it, so I'll call it a success. The evening wrapped up at TKs Great Grandparents, for horsedouvres (sp! damn french words) and chatting. We'll be heading up there again today for Christmas with the Fischers.
Oh, and in case any one is wondering what the Kid left out for Santa... the tally was thus: 4 small cookies, a juice box, a carrot for a reindeer, and a bottle of water for the road. There was a small note left too, explaining why she'd left that for Santa. I'll try to attach a photo tommorrow. For now, Merry Christmas!
