Always Use Protection

I’ve developed a craving for Pocket Protectors. Actually, this craving is not that unusual for me. It has appeared intermittently throughout my laboratory working life. What is unusual is that this instance of the craving has not been triggered by the appearance of a large black stain on the pocket of my favorite shirt. Instead, I’ve fallen for its ease of collectibility. It turns out that pocket protectors were a frequent giveaway in the not too distant past. As such, they are easily available for purchase (for instance, on ebay) in the range of $1 to $5.

My current inspiration is the Pojman Pocket Protector Collection (selected items from the 800+ item collection are shown above). His collection spans the entire world of pocket protectors, from those made of ostrich leather to those made of plastic, from those bearing inscrutable industrial names to those bearing the names and images of household favorites. It's these I love. Mr. Peanut? Frito Bandito? obscure colas or bread companies? Yes, please! Best of all, these are eminently storeable collectibles!

But if you want a pocket protector today, you needen't fall back on history. This seller on etsy is offering a delightful "sparkle vinyl" protector, and can do custom designs. Or take a whack at it yourself - with this instructable, which gives step by step instructions for creating pocket protectors from the skins of vinyl-covered binders. Ah yes... this is going to be fun....

have you found one in decorated as bacon to match your wallet?

and speaking of wallets - is leather acceptable now since you are eating cows again?

Yep, I'm now using leather again. In fact, I was wearing leather shoes at Sabor. Sadly, I have not found a bacon patterned pocket protector. I have seen them from meat processing plants though, but that's about as close as it gets.
