Oh, my achin' body...

For those of you who don't know, the arrival of The Boy pushed my computer office into the not-soon-to-be-finished basement. The Girl and I both feel a bit negative about this, as we're both, shall we say, suggestible and easily spooked. So a few moments ago, I was heading down to check my email when I caught my heel in the cuff of my jeans and went down. I felt at least eight separate impacts as I bounced down the stairs. Based on lingeing pain, at least three of these can be atributed to locations on my mid-back, and at least one can be attributed to the back of my head. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, the sudden vector change dislodged my glasses and flung them across the room, where they landed in a pile of cobwebs and sawdust.

Being a hypochondriac, my first thought was to look for diagnostic symptoms. Paralysis of neck, legs or arms? No. Difference of brightness perception between eyes? No. Inability to focus eyes? No. Numbness or tingling in the arms? YES! Oh my god, I'm dying! Or. Wait, it could be because my forearm slammed into the stairs with some force as I fell. Yes... yes, it was subsiding. OK, I guess I'm fine. Body bruised? Yes. Pride wounded? Certainly. Happy that I was not carrying The Boy down the stairs as I have dozens of times in the past week? Damn Straight! Sheesh. That coulda been bad... Real Bad.

UPDATE (Friday Morning):
My neck is very stiff this morning. I get that sharp muscle pain when I turn my head too quickly, too. Do I have whiplash? Hmm... neckpain, yes. Headache, no. Shoulder pain, no. Maybe its mild whiplash, but I'd say it's nothing to worry about (I do have a iMD, y'kno w). In addition, there's a bruisy pain on my back, and I feel a little... off today. Ugh. Great day for a fussy kid, hmmm?

I wiped out down the basement stairs with B #1. He was about 8 months old. I just remember curling up into a ball as we fell. Luckily for him I am well padded around the midsection. :-) He laughed like he wanted to do it again. I was pretty sore and had mystery bruises all over the place.

oiitup - the only place on me that didn't hurt
