Hero of the Week: John Allison

According to an AP article which appeared in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel today, we've got a new hero in the business of eminent domain. John Allison of BB&T Corps (America's 9th largest bank), has declared that their banks "will no longer make loans to developers who plsnned to build commercial projects on land seized by emminent domain." Now, he admits it won't impact their business much. But in the fight for personal property rights, an ally is appreciated. It's clear that the governments we live under feel that they own our property and are only letting us hold onto it until they need it. That's why they charge us rent to retain the land we've purchased. (They call it property taxes). There's not much we can do about it. But we can at least make it uncomfortable, especially politically uncomfortable, when the government decides they need to seize our homes.
