The State of the Union
My insightful evaluation of the State of the Union address:
I really fucking hate the State of the Union address.
Being more of a shopping list than a plan, it tends toward emotional appeals in lieu of intellectual perspectives. It makes me sad. Sad that our politicians don't trust the majority of america to think, and sad that they're probably right.
PS: I did think it wsa kinda funny when Bush was bitching about congress not passing his social security reform, and the democrats started cheering.
PPS: Oh, I liked the presidential tie, too. Lovely color. Pretty much everything else, from social security reform, to the war in iraq, to cloning.... I hated.

Re: The Man's tie. It is interesting to note that the current color of power, i.e. the red tie, is worn by Cheney. You'd think his handlers would have vetoed "Zipper Club" member #1432's handlers and had Bush wear the red tie. Another subtle message as to who is really running the show?
By the way, I recently finished a novel primarily set in San Francisco in the 1920s; it seems that a man wearing a red tie carried the same information about its wearer as a car bearing a rainbow bumper sticker. I'm not saying anything. I'm just saying, is all.
