Coffee and Cigarettes

OK, I'm no Jim Jarmusch expert. In fact, I've only seen a couple of his movies. But I was so mesmerized by Stranger Than Paradise that always turn to look when I hear his name. I remember that I was supposed to be studying for some exam. I'd ordered pizza and had the TV playing while I studied. Stranger Than Paradise came on and I was transfixed. The pacing was so strange, and it was real in a way that most movies don't bother to be. Real in the "hmmm... I'm gonna go walk down to the corner, but I'd better go use the bathroom first" way. Does that make any sense? Don't remember if I passed the test, but I remember I watched the whole movie. This was back in the day when perusing basic cable could still produce golden nuggets of mind expanding entertainment. Of course, it was also back when I still had time to endlessly surf cable at 1:30 in the morning. Eh. Times change, huh?

Anyway. So tell me how I completely missed this movie? I mean, Chripes! It came out in 2003! And I mean, look at the cast list: Meg and Jack Stripe, Bill Murray, Steven Wright, Cat Blanchett... this thing must have been advertised. Did I just sleep through that whole timeframe? I mean, I missed it one so bad that it's already out on DVD. I've checked out the trailers and it looks decent. I'm expecting that Bill Murray's bit may bug me, but I'm feeling very up about this! Anyone got a copy I can borrow? Maybe they'll have it at the library or Blockbuster. Sigh...
UPDATE (mnutes later): Yep, the local library has it on VHS and DVD. I'm not #1 on the waiting list for the DVD (Why watch VHS when DVD is available, hey?)
