Fun With Dick And Jane - Spoilers?

Some of this may be spoilers, but I don't think there's anything innovative enough in the movie to justify hidden text here. This movie sucked. There's no comedic chemistry between the leads. Scenes with Carey and Leone seem somehow forced or unnatural. Perhaps the actors were fighting off-screen. Carey seemed particularly 'off', though perhaps it's due to the structure of the movie. Many of the gags were one-offs. For me, Carey is most effective when he can build a series of gags, starting in the realm of the possible and shooting off into the comedic stratosphere. Also, the scenes that seemed obviously improv-ed were... obviously improv-ed. Do we need 5 minutes of Jim Carey wandering around his house looking for goofy things to do. No, we do not. Overall, the movie could have benefitted from another 15 minutes or so in length. I wanted to see more of the couple when they'd hit bottom. And I wanted to see more of what life was like after they became more talented at robberies, both the robberies themselves, and their home lives. Sure, there were some funny bits (Carey's sudden decision to re-landscape in the middle of the night springs to mind), but they were few and far between. C+
